Belly Cast for Baby Jacob

Jacob is a sweet angel baby.  His mom wanted to have the cast painted bright and happy.  She wanted blue, sunny skies.  She said the idea of a rainbow represents healing and peace after a storm.  I was so impressed with this mother.  It was an honor to paint his cast.

Belly Cast for Baby Ivy

Ivy was born during October, a beautful autumn month.  I picked Ivy leaves off of my vine, painted them, and pressed them on the cast that was painted with beautiful fall colors.

Elephant in the Hospital

This video is making a case for leaving your infant boys intact.  I think it is effective in making people think twice about this, which most people in our society don't do.  I am not posting this for controversy or to make people feel bad for past decisions.  I am hoping to empower parents with good information so that they can make the best choices for them.

Meet the Doulas Night

We had a great time at Meet the Doulas. It was great to hear first hand accounts from two couples. It was also good for couples to hear more about what a doula is and does. Thanks to al who helped! We held the gathering at Chris Miller's new birth suite. Thanks, Chris!

Home and Natural Birth Onsies

These are some onsies I made that are for sale.

labor and postpartum gown

I designed and sewed this labor and postpartum gown for a friend.  We thought about easy access to nursing and postpartum needs.  It zips all the way open in the front so there is no stepping in and out of it.  It is at the length she requested.  She picked the fabric too!  If you are interested in one, let me know.

"OVERDUE"

Our last gathering was all about going "overdue".  This is a great article that tells us what is happening to baby during the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Baby Tawney's Belly Cast

The butterflies are 3-D

This is Pam Udy's pregnant belly with her daughter, Tawney.  When I talked to Pam and Tawney about what they wanted on this Tawney said, "Flowers, lady bugs, bumble bees, butterflies, dragon flies, pink, purple..."

I asked Pam about her pregnancy and birth.  She told me this was her most peaceful happy pregnancy.  During labor she had a moment alone and realized she was not going to be able to breathe the baby down as hoped.  She said, "I realized I was going to have to work to get this baby out.  There was a gathering of strength."

So my mind went to work.  I felt a great positive energy as I thought about and worked on this painting.  The blue butterflies represent peace softley landing. I thought a lot about a cocoon.  When the work is done inside, a new life emerges.  The work is peaceful and happy.  The mother evolves and grows as well.   I am happy with how it turned out!
